136. Lenny Kravitz, "Fly Away"

November 21 - December 4, 1998

When I think about moronic couplets like "Into the sky/fly so very high/like a dragonfly" or "Let's go and see the stars/the Milky Way/or even Mars," I feel like Axl Rose waiting to give the Pet Shop Boys a bouquet of roses. Sometimes if you fixate on something you hate long enough, you start to love it. Lenny's given us plenty of time to fixate. I'm fascinated by his minimalism, his "YEAH!" so aggressively facile.

I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah yeah yeah
